Great photos! Looks like you saw some cool trains, and that old depot is really neat looking as well!

That last photo proves there is a prototype for every "unrealistic" scene on a model railroad!

At Bear Mountain state park, there was a vintage car display which may interest some of our members here.

Great photo shots can be done at the park and over the bridge with nice scenery. Two railroad lines are
available for viewing. Passenger line on the east side and freight line on the west side of the Hudson river.

just on the modified Checker!
IF I ever get one it will be a full on Taxicab

Gotta remember about Eastern railroads
The tunnels aren't as high as those in the West
So to cope with Hy-Cube boxcars, double containers, dome passenger cars & huge auto carriers
The East RRs are either lowering the tunnel floors, Dalighting them or bypassing them

There are some beautiful old cars in those photos, wks. My favorites being the '57 Chevy and the '67(?) Pontiac GTO.I don't know man, there's so many good ones in there!

The tunnel on the left is the original Hudson river line that went to Albany by way of Chattam N.Y. ( I am assuming this is the east side of the river, the west side being the water level route, Both NYC Lines ) The side cut came later as equipment grew larger and possible collapse became a problem.

The 57 chevy was the first car I owned. Brings back many memories ( lost my, ahem, virginity in that car, several times )

I bet that all that green and mountains is making CHOPS home sick.

Took a trip up to Poughkeepsie New York to sightsee and check out the Poughkeepsie Trail Bridge.

Former double track rail bridge helped speed up train traffic by avoiding New York City rail traffic.

View looking north.

View looking northeast.

View on trail bridge looking east. Imagine this with train service many decades ago.

View looking south with Poughkeepsie road bridge visible.

Old photographs show history of bridge.

Interesting history.

More photos.

What a shot.

View looking south at Metro North rail station in Poughkeepsie.

Another view of yard area north of station.

Train show at civic center.

Some layouts there. Did not buy anything but still had a great time up north.

Saw one of those New Haven F units back in 98 in Norwalk

Go to Rhinecliff and you can see the three track (used to be four) of the old NYC

Saratoga station has a small display of model trains

At Cold Spring New York looking at the former depot. Now a restaurant.

Forgot to bring bread.

Nice colors for November.

Cool but comfortable.

Looking south towards the Cold Spring station site.

Pleasant area to look at the Hudson River. The river is behind me.

Cute church nearby.

Colors by the station platforms.

Getting late.

At Grand Central Station in New York City. Time to take the subway home to Queens New York.
