This is another museum I enjoy going to. I last visited it in September 2013 during
steam engine 425's visit. I did not stay for her display in Jim Thorpe PA since I
wanted to hike in the gorge along the track bed. These are my pictures.

Huge HO scale layout in building next to the station. Has since been dismantled. Future plans unknown.
Not my photo. Got it from the internet. I had seen the layout many times in the past.

I'll get there someday soon. Two weeks ago I made it to Laury PA a little over 7 miles north on Rt. 145 of Rt. 22 at Allentown. Mauch Chunk isn't to far north of where I was at Laury Station. A few weeks before that I was at Ashley Plains.

Last two photos are of a branch line which splits from the mainline at Penn Haven. I may revisit

It connects Lehigh gorge river line at Penn Haven (independence)to Hazleton
with a connection to other Reading and Northern Railroad routes. By mistake
I called it a branch line when it is officially called the Ashmore Secondary line.
Track at center of photo curves northward toward Scranton area.
The other track at this location curves westward toward Hazleton.
Same location but looking south shows both lines converging.

The cars without seats are used for carrying bicycles for riders that detrain and ride back to town.
They can be used for other events such as parties and meetings. Some people like to stand and
view the scenery in those cars.

I have some more photos from my trip in September 2013.

I especially like how almost all the cars on that railroad are painted in the same scheme and match! Something you don't see every day on these tourist lines.

Cool video by a very die hard railfan.

Hopefully you can ride these trains out of Jim Thorpe this year.
The borough was giving the railroad a hard time over back taxes.
I heard they settled their differences so we will see.

It does look that both parties reached an agreement Ben.
Rides this coming Saturday from beautiful Jim Thorpe.
More photos from my trip there this past October.

Glad operations will continue for the next few years at least.
