i have been trying for ages without much success,according to bachmann,you only need to undo the 4 screws,just gets stuck,i think its fault of the large coupler on front,ken


even bought a second one to see if it was just the first one that had the problem

first lift the back and then slide it over the coupler bar! - Erich

May be The FT shell I have is not so tight. put it back the opposite way! coupler first! and check out the frame

this is my horn problem,i want it as close to original as possible,the older horns are fragile,the newer ones are not much better but look better ken

have noticed that on the newer versions the a/b cars are closer than on these,removed the front coupler box and body slips on/off with ease,so its the box that is the problem,ken
left new box,right the old one

i know this is an old thread, but I'm curious: Are those diesels' shells painted gold, or actually cast in gold plastic (it looks like the latter, but I can't be sure). Gold plastic is a tricky business to get right; Hasbro and Takara's formula from the '90s is infamous for being brittle and prone to crumbling, which is compounded by the fact that it also suffers from slight swelling that makes parts rub tightly against each other. If these shells are gold plastic it could be that they have a similar swelling problem.
