Well the Lincoln Champaign and Peoria has reached a crossroads. I have been talking about it for sometime but changes to the current pike have stalled. I have had a vision of building a vertical 5 x 10 freestanding island layout that will drop the benchwork to ankle height and then extend to over my head as far as the ceiling will allow. Multiple loops on multiple levels will operate independently with stationary DCC decoders for each loop. Turnouts will be kept to a minimum as reliability is the emphasis but with maximized opportunities for scenery and (railfanning). This is the layout I have always envisioned. You can bet my collection of Tyco and other makes will stay play a key role but I am incorporating multiple scales this time as this is the layout that I want and not the layout that everyone else thinks one should have. I am experimenting with what I call sight line perspective and I will use larger scales and larger equipment close to eye level and different eras with smaller equipment to create a greater sense of forced perspective in the vertical planes. Its exciting....stay tuned

The rebuilding project for the LC&P has begun.
This will be the floor to ceiling 5x9 wedding cake style layout that I proposed.
First step involved removing existing display cases and relocating them to a new area.

Next came a patching and painting of the existing walls in a better basecoat of sky blue.
In preparation for the upcoming mural that will be a part of the walk in environment of the new layout.

The new color unifies the two rooms that that LC&P occupies.
The color was extended to the Peoria city scape of the yard area.
Compare this to an earlier photo with a more extreme blue.

I always enjoy revisiting this layout thread. Great ideas for your own layouts.
