An older pic here from a couple of years back, and I just discovered while I was surfacing and painting the boards in this area that I have nothing to put in the area of the orange line towards the motel. I have used those two buildings elsewhere. I don't want any more buildings so I have quite an area of space to fill.

you could always add a alley back there with fences, trash & dumpsters Also stray cats & dogs or 3 too
how about a parking lot area for the motel?

The motel and gas station are now somewhere else on the layout. That whole section was left unplanned.

Been spending a little time on this 21X39 inch section of my layout. Still a lot to do here with detailing and lights, etc.

Adding a little detail over time... More to go. Things are just sitting in place or close. Nothing mounted yet.

Thank You, RP! Microbusss, I loved the old Woolworth stores and bought most of my train stuff there back in the 70s. They had a good selection! AS you know, I also have the AHM Woolworth boxcar that is high on my favorites list! On of my cats knocked my board off of the stand I had it on and broke both of my EXXON light poles. It broke off the non working lights that come from the pole. I'll get a new pack soon.

The cat must have batted some of the pieces around because I never found all of them. But I bought a pair last night on Ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/LIFE-LIKE-LIGHT-UPS-EXXON-GAS-LIGHT-01202-for-Train-layouts-scale-models/283966279620?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

Stupidly funny. My first pair of these pole were broken and I recently replaced them. Got them, replaced the old price stickers and glued the add on lights in place. I now have no idea where I have put one of these poles. UnbeLIEvable...

Found that I am down to just a very few train cars that I might want to buy. I remember from childhood that my friend had a Tyco Chessie System 430 that I really admired. Want to get on in nice condition. A Life-Like Circus car that I had as a teen. The flat with two rolling animal cages on it. Third would be a Durango Streamline caboose. Must be excellent with no scuffing, scratches or noticable damage... I believe my last rolling stock count was at 229. I still have this want, to buy more pieces that I already have many of. Guess that's what Tyco does to a person.

Here's a pic that I mentioned before. The orange area is a pretty fair size area that I did not plan on "nothing" being there. The buildings in the orange area are already placed in other sections of my layout. I realy have no desire for any other buildings. Thinking maybe some nice front lawns and big parking lots here...

It looks good. I have to put everything in with a shoehorn, and this allows each building to show its dimentions, particularly the Siesta. Plenty of parking space for all those cool seventy and eighty cars.

Here's what my thoughts would be for a nice empty section with a nearby church, mind you this is just an idea. Translate the church 90 degrees to face the road beside it, and have it share a parking lot with the store to the north of it, and have an alley run up around the two buildings.
Then obtain some playground equipment, some trees, and an old Tyco Wide-vision caboose.
(Images courtesy ebay)
Have a little park on the curve side of the north part, then on the little extrusion, have the Tyco Caboose sitting in as a display on the corner, and scatter some trees throughout. This would be a nice calm little city-scape.

That is a very well detailed area plan, Aaron. Nice suggestion!
Walt, you could also consider placing some sort of big industry here- a refinery, steel mill, mine, or construction site.....might look really cool.

Last night something really different happened. I went down to the train table and was looking at an area when I found this small little piece of plastic that was laying on the table. Not in good light I took the small piece over to the light and could barely read this little sign that said fillet fish. It quickly dawned on me that the little seldom seen sign found on the bottom of the Life-Like McDonalds from the bigger sign. Sure enough, the little sign had come off and I was lucky enough to find it! This little sign looks like extra plastic when the kit is new, covered with alot of extra plastic around it. It often gets "cut off" by the kit builder believing its junk plastic. This includes the kit model used on the Buildems box that doesn't have this sign on it...

Found this hopper that I have never seen before on Ebay on Tuesday evening late. I liked it, may have been the color that attracted me along with the Santa Fe roadname. I won it earlier today... https://www.jegs.com/i/Year-One/219/SFW158S/10002/-1?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=b8f6c3dde39bd7760049d948b829163925f096aa-1619679280-0-ARGWAU_D37xubYVPTe9zDK_8gcIRHx3Yty1tiuKMgZ-jepM_4w6XBRB0PHi7QLbd2Wp1vC_Cng_cH0Ik5HpNSzzb_2_76luMZKLVbTx8k3zTd8ZOotlIRiJDd_H1JnLyNE1czEZ3-BmUB6hbHkwCe1nz7BS3f4aLN4K9sk46lkv-_miof12Uurj9vwkufqe83RKVBrVRgF8Z7jzs0WzUchzwisfkhDUsMdtshqZLpdtmSFAQhMqUzq9L9wwVxmjz6kVOf42t3TDfaK2bbXytyb9ACbcs-vgPgrTcfqiM-9LIfCEWyNvmtOHQ-fmIM7nTaWXrB2gJdgSjouS3fLjaEv2ADtuvWY0JzKx4N5jhCEC4hz4XmpjTANLEd-uoP8ie54aGaqgBhO9PHxRcR09tZzR5npU5BPU-818Qrmq8ra2-WiPmGH089Cm-D1K2E5LHkw

That phrase reminds me of a story. An engineer radioed the dispatcher for the correct time. The dispatcher asked him what railroad he worked for. The engineer asked, "does it matter?"
The dispatcher said, "If you're Union Pacific, it's 1:35 pm. If you're BNSF, it's 13:35. If you're Amtrak, it's Tuesday."
