Here is a project that I've been tinkering with for a while. A PRR BB1 electric locomotive.

This one has a PT drive from an 0-6-0 switcher, a couple Tyco caboose shells, a pantograph from a GG1, and a headlight from a 2-8-0. All Tyco, so far. I'm probably going to scratchbuild the sideframes though.

All in all, a fun little project. --Thomas

I'm sure I'll be lettering for PRR. I just need to find the right decals from Microscale.

Been a cool idea to get a Clementine caboose and preserve the road name!

Thomas, a very useful engine

I have this picture of a Class B2 switcher...

/tyco/forum/uploaded/Zebrails/20121128232701_No_3900_Class-B2.jpg

It's from a book called "The Pennsylvania Railroad, A Pictorial History" (C) 1949

Far as I can tell, you've got a great start!

Forward!

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.

Good going Thomas. Nice idea. A B1 electric. When you make a second one you will have the BB1.

Frank, You mean I have to bash another one??? What a slave master! OK, B1 it is.

Nickelplate, yeah, after much thinking (and beer) I discovered that electric locos are really just 'booses with motors.

More Tyco kitbashes to come...

Neat project, I love TYCO kitbashing projects! I'm currently making a Pennsy N8 style caboose using the same caboose shells. Another project that could be done is to use these shells to kitbash a box cab diesel....

Great scratchbuild! Huge points for using so many Tyco bits yet keeping it believable. Even if you weren't going after a prototype this is still pretty awesome.

thomas ; The PRR BBi had a platform, and step pilot outside one end of the cab. there were steps on each side and a railing. the way yours is made you can place one on this loco covering up the frame element sticking out above your step pilot.
If you make a second one they run together with these platforms on the outside ends. Here are some photo links from northeast and railfan.net.

Frank, excellent! Thank you for the photo pointers.

Chris, thank you. Believability is the key for me with these kitbashes, otherwise I'd be scratchbulding instead of kitbashing. Half of the fun is turning a Tyco RTR in the hand at different angles and seeing a totally new locomotive or car in it.

That is AWESOME! Heck, I don't even model the PRR or electrics so I'd little concept of the thing, but I want one now. Fortunately I've got the parts! Now all I need is time. I have *way* too many unfinished projects.
