Those of you who have followed my Tyco Plugger Rebuilding Project know that I have a history when it comes to these fifty foot boxcars. While my rebuilding project is currently on hold, the habit of keeping an eye out for additional pluggers remains.
So naturally when I visited my favorite local hobby shop, the one that does a brisk business in buying and selling second hand rolling stock, I briefly checked out the current supply of Tyco pluggers. I almost missed it, but among the Burlington Northern, Santa Fe, and New Haven pluggers I found this....
I know that the Alaska Railroad plugger is rare, I have purchased over 100 of these things and this is the first ARR boxcar I have ever found. I purchased it for just six bucks .
Here's the thing, I am probably not the best person to have the honor of owning this piece of equipment. I am a kitbasher, not a collector so I am planning on putting this car up on eBay. Is there anyone on this forum that would like a heads up when I put it up for auction?
