Numidia was historically a province of ancient Rome. One of the most dread punishments, such as failing to be nasty enough as a gladiator, was to be sent as a slave to work the Salt Mines of Numidia. Life expectancy was brutally short. Drawing on that theme, I added a salt mine to Henley. I like to reflect upon it when I whine about my current work or circumstances. It could have been a LOT worse. Counting my blessings in El Paso.
