Tyco Alco C-630 Burlington Northern Prototype
This is one that I know the pictures do not do it justice, and being a fan of the C-630, it is my favorite. Like the Illinois Central Gulf that was posted earlier, the Burlington is based on a Phase IV, with the PT motor. This one, though, is fully wired and fully operational.
All of the painting; body color, numbers, etc., was all done by hand. The demarcation lines from the masking and layout is pretty easy to spot. The "Burlington Northern" name at the bottom of the cab is a decal, and it is yellowed and silvered. Finish is dead-flat; no glossiness at all.
No handrails were with it. The number boards are all blank, and have a frosted appearance

Congrats on your finds. I was interested in them but talked myself out of bidding because I wasn't sure about the authenticity. The last on on the 'bay was surely well painted. I'm hoping there are more like these out there.

Question, how do you know it's a preproduction and not just something some guy painted 20 years ago?

This def was not painted by any individual. The paint lines are perfect (no paint bleeding) and all the lettering is painted. After showing a few club members & collectors, theyve agreed that I found something unique.
