My LOTW will be my newest addition, my Tyco Great Northern F7 Deluxe Diesel. After some cleaning, and a tiny paint touch-up on the number boards, I managed to get this unit looking nice. In my honest opinion, this unit has one of the best model train motors ever made. The unkillable MU-2, but now you can easily take it apart and clean it. It's a motor you can never kill. I love this unit!

Nice guys! Haven't seen a GN F, much less in Tyco. Nice one!

One of my first pieces when getting back into model rail, about thirty years
ago I found a random undecorated shell and then a random Model Power
chassis, and since it was black, and I found some PC decals... I weather
very few things, preferring a pristine state, but this one begged to be grubbed up.

My Mikado, repainted IHC model, but not the premiere model. I had to add the handrails myself.

Also added new marker lights. I might add one of my trademark paper headlight visors at some point.

I remember those IHC models with the molded on hand rails. Your separately applied ones are a real improvement.

My LOTW is a late 1950's Piko BR81 0-8-0 made in East Germany. I got this in a lot of vintage Piko locomotives a few months back. All it needed to run alright was some basic cleaning and lubrication as well as running in. All things considered, she's not a bad engine at all.

Eeeeeast Germany. That is really quite an interesting historical piece.
BTW, if you get HULU, take a look at Deutchland 86 and Deutchland 87
for a fascinating drama and some exceptional POV of communist
Germany.

It wasn't free. I bought it off of Ebay a little while ago. Probably should've clarified that. But yeah, I got 2 Piko E44's (one from the 60's, one from the 70's), an old Gützold DB V200 from the mid 1960's, and I believe that's all I got in the lot I bought.

Oh yeah. Even just looking at the thing, you can tell that it oozes with history. I have to say, considering when and where this thing was made (late 1950's East Germany), it runs surprisingly well. The motor gets fairly warm within about 5-10 minutes of running and it's not the biggest fan of my switches, but otherwise, it's not a bad runner, all things considered.

Oh yeah, it was. Got a few harder to find Piko models for a lot less than they usually go for. A lot of these older ones are collectibles now, especially in Germany.

Glad to see it go to such a good home, buss!

Nice locomotives this week, all. Since I'm joining the party a little late, I figured I might as well double-dip.

Up first is my Burlington Northern Tyco E7A - got it running on the rails again and it is a beauty! More details posted under the "RETRO TYCO" thread.

Next is a recent N-Scale acquisition for Alpenbahn - this awesome Minitrix Class E44 electric locomotive!
