Ahh, for some reason never really got into the fanasty scheme thing except for a few things. Is there a cheaper way to put rivets on the flat cars other then the rivets by archer's? http://www.archertransfers.com/AR88026.html
BARRY My mom picked that freight house at a yard sale. So not sure what brand it and the other one is. I have to find or replace the back missing roof.
Was going to glue the side pockets on, however the plastic I was going to use looks to small, will have to get bigger u channel plastic.

Try Micro Mark company. They also carry the rivet decals. Not sure about the price, but it is an alternative source. Good luck.

Well... you can make them yourself. Use stretched sprue, sliced into tiny rivets. Doable? Yes, I have done it for 1/35 scale tank models. Fun and easy? NO! You may well be better off saving up to buy those prefab rivets. I certainly would!

Oldtimer52, Will give a look a micro mark, have a catalog at home. typoponere I did think of using sprue to do it, would take forever. Thanks both for the idea's.
Here is micro marks one slightly cheaper than archer. http://www.micromark.com/ho-scale-decals-with-raised-3d-rivets-and-other-surface-details,9968.html
Read a article about 15-20 years ago about using a sewing machine to do riviits. Belive it had you use a dull needle to push on the plastic causing a dimple on the other side.

Have got a lot done on the caboose, its about 80% done. Not to much done on the flat cars, as I need to get the rivet decals before I do much more, have been weathering etc the decks in the meantime. Hope to post some more pictures this weekend if not sooner.

I sometimes use a sewing pounce wheel to emboss rivets on .005" sheet styrene. It works and is fairly quick. But this will only work before the model is assembled.

I bought one of those sewing wheels things I could not get it to work right, Might be operator error though.
Got the side pockets glued on both the flat cars. Need to order the curved grab irons for the side of the caboose( only 5 in the package, why not a even number makes no sense)
Have to look at my decal sheets to make sure I have the right ones for these three.
Was hoping to get some pictures uploaded this week, however my car was hit by a truck while at the hobby store. So now will be busy looking into where to get it fixed.

Nice Transfer Caboose Fourteen, I think a real RI transfer caboose just like your model is preserved at the Illinois Railway Museum. Keep up the good work, I would like to see your plugger rebuilds too!

Also working on two scratch built gondolas, and started work on a 50 foot boxcar. All leading up to build a 3 bay covered hopper. Going to be moving the next couple days, so not sure how much I will be getting done for a bit as I get ever thing back up and running. The box car ends and top are from a kit, so only the side and the under frame will be scratch built.

I really like that flatcar with the bulkheads. What did you use for the stake pockets?
