Looks like I ge3t to start this weeks LOTW. I'm going to use my recent find of an Tenshendo FT diesel that I got on evilbay for $32. The loco was $20 and the shipping $12, so I couldn't pass up a brass loco for that price.
I've found a replacement horn and am going to restore it. After polishing the shell and cleaning and lubing, I'll give it a clear cote and just keep it like that. Thanks to all of the guys who helped me identify it.

That's some weird looking nose contouring. Still a nice loco/find, though. I also think the rear truck is set too far forwards.
I'm home schooled, I love to work on cars and anything with an engine and wheels, I love model RR'ing, and listening to Dire Straits.

I think I already said this but, man, I love how weird that thing looks.

I think most of the weirdness comes from that bulb sticking RIDICULOUSLY far out the front. Replace it with a red bulb, and you have Rudolph the red-nosed freight train. Although the hood itself seems out of shape compared to most F type engines back then, too. Either way, it's a neat piece.

Actually, I'm thinking of replacing the bulb with a 5mm white led. Just need to add a circuit to make it a constant/bi-directional light.

Well thank you for beating me to the punch on calling out the headlight The rear truck actually was offset like that on the FT, though, so aside from the headlight and the nose contour it's not bad.

The early Tenshado F units remind me of the space ships in the Flash Gordon movie. The detail is heavy handed. They are cool as examples of the early japinese imports. The body and the drive are a great view into that era. Regards John Biologist believe in accidental evolution, mathematicians have issues with the odds. <> Junior

It looks like Im back on an Aerotrain Kick! This time I modified an Athearn SD-40 chassis to fit an old Varney Aerotrain. Side by side comparison shows the original Varney power chassis(with a can motor conversion) alongside my new Athearn version with switcher truck. It will soon get Flexicoil sideframes. It should pul like the dickens with the heavy chassis! Rock Island had three of theese things so I just had t have one of each!

That's a pretty cool conversion. You gonna put any sort of sideframe on the rear axle?

Very nice custom. It must run as well as it looks.
