A trio of British Billboard goods wagons by Airfix I snagged off Ebay this week. By
Airfix, a company I've scarcely heard of. Stamped 1975 on the bottoms, with a
Hong Kong point of manufacture. NIB, building up my thin roster which took back
seek to my Tycomania, for some years.

Chops, I remember Airfix from the hundred or so model airplane kits I built in the 60s. Never knew them for anything else until recently.

But they don't make 00 gauge freight cars and locomotives anymore, I believe. Nowadays they just build kits and stuff.

Cool cars Jeff. I think Airfix made some cool things. I had an Airfix crane car at one time back in the 60's that was pretty fine (then I got rid of everything and just started again about 3 years ago). I dig those compact European cars.

Just starting this set with 3 cars.
This was a good start.
All Rivarossi, with interiors except the baggage.
Got fairly cheap, too. Baggage + sleeper, 9.99 each.
Obs. was 2.99!! I'm sure it was a mistake.

Beautiful 'starter' set

Yeah I'd say that $2.99 was supposed to be $12.99!

Just bought this set online. It's a "President's Choice 4-8-2 Mountain Express". This is one of several train sets sold thru the "Loblaws" chain of grocery stores in the 1990's (this set is from 1997). The train is from Mehano and I've read good things about the locomotive. We'll find out when it gets here!

Seller also had this coal bunker. I bought it as well.

Ah, yeah. You're so lucky. I love Mehano locos. They look and run great in my experience.

@ Islandtrains.

I have a couple of those PC sets. The locos are great runners and detail is very good. The rolling stock is not the greatest. I am sure you will be pleased with it.

Great sets, never knew this stuff existed. BTW, that
NYC is pretty darn hot. Never seen a set like that
before. Makes me want to take a ride down the
Hudson River line, sure does.

Writing too much, but what the heck, can't sleep anyways. I remember that
kit when living in the UK back in the day. A very evocative piece: those guys
flying those machines in the Battle of Britain really put it on the line. Heroic
beyond measure.

There's two more PC sets I want to aquire-
"The PC Express". I hear the locomotive is excellent in this set

and the "Yard Bull" set

The locomotive in this set is geared low - perfect for switching operations.

The funny thing about the Yard Bull loco is that Mehano literally used the Chattanooga shell and stuff for this thing. It looks good, though.

I also have a few old airplane kits from when I was about 12. They are old Matchbox 1/72 WWII craft.

About Airfix 1/72 model aircraft. A source for these was AHM in 1963. Their catalog of 24 pages counting both covers has in its center page 11 and 12 photos info and prices for 43 aircraft. They cost .50 cents for 25 different ones and the remainder anywhere from .79 cents to 1.98 and one costing 2.98 .
