I finally finished these this week..... NJ Transit #4334 and #4323. I will never do these again. I used Rivarossi E8 shells and chassis. Both engines are equiped with two Clear LED's headlights. The hardest part was dealing with the air bubbles in the decals when I was putting them on. Both engines are coated with a Testor's clear coat I made up using 67% gloss and 33% Dullcoat.

Very nicely done. Looks almost like something Rivarossi could've done back in the day.

Now that is an awesome times 10 job. Did you use micro sol under the decals before you put them on? I find that will normally eliminate the bubble problem on large decals. I also put a coat of micro sol on after they dry a bit to help ensure that the decal conforms.

I tried everything possible when applying the decals. The ribbing on the shell causes air bubbles. If you press too hard, the detail rivets came thru the decals. I finally got them right, I re-did these shells probably 6-7 times to get them right. One was perfect but I forgot to line up the decals on one side with the other side.
Sometime in the spring I will complete a NJT E60CF, a Conrail E8, and a Black/Silver IHC GG1 in NJT.

With decal setting, I tend to roll a Q-tip over the decal, that tends to help a whole lot.
just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

The bubbling occurs after I put the decal set on it..... You can't touch the decals until the decal set evaporates.
