This is my Marx switcher dropping a cut at the wharf. Taken the other week at El Paso Model Train Club. If the operator is not careful, it is entirely possible to roll right off the end, past the wheel stops, and into the drink.

Steve, judging by the large radidiator that's a U33C. (Unfortunately my dismal knowledge ends squarely in the 80's, lol.)
Chops, love the wharf scene and tugboat.

After doing a bit of research, I found that you're correct about what you think this engine is. Here's the photo of my exact locomotive in real life. /tyco/forum/uploaded/kovacste000/20140413160348_gn2541.jpg Also, I found that the locomotive was built in April of 1969 as the number you see on my model. When Great Northern merged to become BN in 1970, number 2541 became number 5711 until it retired in July 1984. One year later, in 1985, Azcon Corps bought number 5711. I found that Azcon Corps is a scrap company so that means number 2541/5711 was scrapped. Anyway, here's where I got the information about the loco. http://donsdepot.donrossgroup.net/dr997.htm

Recently restored E8. The previous owner didn't take good care of it. I removed some hideous weathering, dust and glue stains and lubed it up

My LOTW is a pair of L&N E units, a Proto 2000 E6 and a Rivarossi E8, ready to head up the Pan American. The P2K was bought as is, the Rivarossi I stripped and repainted to L&N.

Jerry Awesome paint job. did you cut stencils for the E8 nose or was it a decal? I want to do an engine for the SARATOGA & NORTH CREEK RR (a tourist line in N.Y.) which uses something similar to the D&H pattern.

This thread needs more EMD E units! My LOTW contribution to the E unit disease on this thread is an HO scale proto 2000 EMD E8 in Erie railroad paint:
It runs as good as it looks and it weighs in excess of something like 25-30 ounces!
I'm home schooled, I love to work on cars and anything with an engine and wheels, I love model RR'ing, and listening to Dire Straits.

Leo & John - thank you but the E6 with the modern L&N yellow nose was NOT painted by me! I did the Rivarossi E8 with the L&N 'austerity blue' paint scheme (blue for passenger units, black for freight). I have yet to tackle the yellow nose paint scheme...well, I take that back, I did try it once with the L&N 'double F' kitbash posted under Oddities. On that one I did not use a decal, I masked the area and painted it. As far as getting the yellow to cover, my best advice is to apply a light undercoat of white followed by several light coats of yellow with an airbrush. Don't know if this will help, but I am preparing to attempt a Santa Fe war bonnet paint scheme on a F7. The Microscale decal sheet advises to make a photocopy of the decal sheet to create a paint mask. Will let you know how that turns out!

I can't get enough E units. I have 13 p2k e8/9, three e 6 units and 3 model power units. I have 2 tyco e units but they most likely will be retired to make room in my den.

Wow! I love EMD E units, especially the E8's. Those 24 cylinders of EMD 567 power make a FANTASTIC noise!

...and here's the prototype-- I was given a set of photos from a neighbor who worked for N&W, and had brought home some old Wabash stuff. Ok, it's not exactly the loco pictured, but it's got the spirit.

Hey Ben, One of those streamlined trains (N gauge) was running at the train show this past weekend; just like a snake.

I've seen those at train shows running quite a few times actually. They look like snakes on rails so I totally agree with your comment.
